Disaster Relief

06/2020 - 12/2020: Director of Programs (Consultant) at the Bronx Community Foundation
In June 2020, as the world was surrounded by the COVID-19 pandemic and later, by protests, I looked around me to see how science could help in disaster management and relief. Seeing the immense need around me in a borough of New York called the Bronx, I started working at The  Bronx Community Foundation as its Director of Programs.
In this highly public-facing, strategic role, my responsibilities included:
  • Provided project management for multiple verticals and projects for The Bronx Community Relief Effort and The Bronx Community Foundation.
  •  Supported new accounting and tax systems.
  • Created manuals / training for processes used by The Bronx Community Relief Effort and The Bronx Community Foundation.
  • Provided strategic guidance and support for grant submissions and collaterals to ensure the continuous delivery of service.
  • Developed insight toward functional strategies for pivoting from the relief effort into a sustainable, long-standing Bronx Community Foundation in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Planned programs from start to completion including deadlines, milestones and processes.
  • Planned the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and goals of The Bronx Community Foundation.
  • Developed new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Developed program evaluation framework and a documentation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement.
  • Volunteer and intern management and create instruction manuals for training.
  • Assisted in developing budgets.
A few press outlets that covered these efforts are below:
  • NYTimes covering the first South Bronx setup of the Rockwell Group’s DineOut NYC systems installed across the city.
  • Newsweek article urging politicians to put efforts into The Bronx.
