Making deep connections through creative agingOne of the things that is so meaningful in doing work with Bharatanatyam and creative aging is the lasting connections we get to make. I have written about this facet of the work in a publication in the Journal of Public Health.
Through the connections we get to make, I have shared a celebration of a friend's 90th birthday. I have also been delighted to share in another friend's 75th birthday gathering! Some images of Mickey (Carmen) Alvarez on her special day are below. We went to South street seaport - the neighborhood where she grew up - for this special occasion.

"Discovering India" series at Hudson Guild (3) At Hudson Guild Older Adult Center, as part of "Discovering India'", I shared a session on "Fabrics of India". I gave an overview of khadi and its importance for the freedom movement, Aravind Mallapudi of Hrudayam Arts shared some pieces of fabric and textile from India. I demonstrated how a sari is worn, and we all did some Gujarati embroidery.
