Partners of the Americas invited ComMotion and Biblioteca Madre for its 2025 What Works Conference on theme of “Peace and Development” in Lima, Peru. Below are videos from Mariana Occhiuzzi and me on what were some high points and learnings from the project.

March to August 2024: Project Manager for ComMotion - Community in Motion's work on the inclusion of underserved communities, thanks to a grant by Partners of the Americas. More information about the grant can be found here. This work will be done in North Carolina, USA; Santiago, Chile; Barranquilla, Colombia; Medellin, Colombia; Buenos Aires, Argentina

A description of the project is below:
"The Bibliotheca Madre project aims to empower underrepresented voices in Latin America, including Indigenous peoples, females, and people with disabilities, by connecting them with a team of artists and educators to create an online multimedia library showcasing their culture and traditions. Over a virtual collaboration spanning several weeks, artists will be trained to produce educational content with a focus on inclusivity, resulting in modules with lesson plans published in an online library. The initiative, targeting at least 5 youth-serving organizations and over 200 youth in North Carolina and Latin America, seeks to address the lack of representation and perpetuation of stereotypes in Hispanic/Latinx education, fostering cultural appreciation and empathy for historically marginalized communities."
We are working with 13 amazing artists, and their information can be found here. In the video below, Andre Avila and I describe the project:
